I hear the news of the world and I almost despair.
War is the most appalling indicator of who we are, and there are plenty more indicators that we are jerks, ass-h..., villains, utterly depraved, products of 4 billion years of evolution, winners (along with many other species) of a reproduction contest. That gave us our life and our humanity. That is why we struggle with morality, New Year's resolutions, and adding up a column of numbers. Our humanity is what we must OPPOSE. Atrocities are spectacular examples of failing to oppose it.

I SAY that we are NOT the beings who should have control of nuclear arsenals that can probably make us extinct. AND, It's going to get worse. Weapons of mass destruction are going to become available to smaller nations, then even smaller groups. Read the world news and imagine how well that will turn out.

I ASSERT that we need "Somebody" to TAKE the dangerous toys away.

I DECLARE we shall build our own "Somebody".

This is dangerous. People will hate it. It goes against our very humanity. Do it anyway. The alternative an unacceptably large chance that we go extinct in this century.

I do not fool myself with megalomania. I won't do it myself. I participate where I can and influence what I can.
