I did my MA dissertation in medieval Persian manuscript painting (though I unfortunately do not read Persian or Arabic).

I also concentrated on Russian history for the history side of my degree, with a particular emphasis on

• the nineteenth century and first half of the twentieth century
• the revolutionary movements
• Dostoevsky
• Tolstoy
• the Bolsheviks
• Stalin

I am also particularly interested in New England, where I am from, Scotland, where I live, and Mexico, where my partner is from.
