[edit] Wikioxymorons and WikiNewspeak

  • "Articles for deletions are not votes". Used as an excuse to override consensus.
  • "No wikilawyering". Used as an excuse to override precedence.
  • Angela Beesley of Wikia and David Brandt are twins in believing that Wikipedia should be expunged of articles on themselves

[edit] Wikipedia pissing matches

  • Jay Robert Nash, he got into a argument with Wikipedia when he realized that many of his biographies were being used as sources for articles. He said that he created some biographies as copyright traps, and Wikipedia ordered all articles that listed him as a reference, to be deleted. The article on Mock Duck that I wrote was deleted without an explanation. I can't tell how many were deleted. No record was kept. Wikipedia was the winner, but readers were the losers.
  • Daniel Brandt of Public Information Research, I think it took 18 deletion attempts before finally it was deleted. David Brandt was the winner, but readers were the losers.
  • Angela Beesley of Wikia had her biography expunged from Wikipedia. She is the co-founder of Wikia. She didn't like what people were writing about her, and used ex-parte communication to have a Wikipedia user nominate her biography for deletion. It was deleted on the 8th vote. She first said that she wasn't in communication with the third party on her user page, then she deleted that section.

[edit] Movies

The first movie I ever saw in a theater was most likely Robbery (film). My parents divorced in 1966, and my dad took me to the movies somewhere in Bergen County, New Jersey. I was surprised that it was still light out, and was shocked that we were walking into a building. The only movies I had seen before were at the drive-in. The movie was about a train robbery in England, they hit the conductor over the head, thats all I remember.

[edit] Inclusionism

I am philosophically associated with the Association of Inclusionist Wikipedians. I believe that today's ephemera is tomorrow's knowledge. While there is endless minutae in Wikipedia on fictional video game characters, minor notable people of the past are deleted. The Google test is biased toward the most notable people of the past, and anyone who did something notable since 1990. The worst that would happen by allowing biographies of minor real people would be that they would not be read. That's what cheap disk storage space is for.

  • Basel, Switzerland (1996) SBS Conference
  • Antwerp, Belgium (c1997)
  • Amsterdam, Netherlands (c1997) day trip from Antwerp

  • Athens, Greece (March 1998) with Internet friend
  • Budapest, Hungary (August 1998)
  • Vienna, Austria (November 1999) with Leslie Gyi
  • Prague, Czech Republic (November 1999) with Leslie Gyi
  • Bratislava, Slovakia (November 1999) with Leslie Gyi
  • Singapore (May 05, 2001) on way to Bangkok for one night
  • Bangkok, Thailand (May 06, 2001 - May 28, 2001) for three weeks including Lop Buri to see the monkeys; and Phichit to use the market to buy food. I tried bicycling from Phitsanulok Province to Phichit from Ban Dongphayom with my cousin on a pink girls bicycle designed for a 10 year old. He rode another bicycle designed for a 10 year old. The chain kept falling off and the seat kept twisting to the side on mine, so we switched every half-hour. We made it as far as a roadhouse serving food and drink after three-hours. We were able to call home and get them to pick us up in a pickup truck.
  • Basel, Switzerland (Saturday, January 12, 2008 - Saturday, January 19, 2008) I flew from Philadelphia to Zurich, then took the train to Basel and stayed at the Hotel Alpha at 4127 Birsfelden at the intersection of Haupstrasse. The hotel is right at the Birs river, which flows into the Rhine, just a few blocks north of the hotel. I arrived around noon Sunday local time, and took a nap, watched tv, then went to bed early to reset my clock. In the morning I met Jon and Christof in the dining room. Breakfast was yogurt, salami, croissants, orange juice, brie and soft boiled eggs.
