[edit] Approach
An adaptable business will be comprised of building blocks, or components that provide a structure that is relevant to the circumstances that may prevail. The building blocks are pieces of the business that allow the whole enterprise to be configured and reconfigured in new ways. At this level the building blocks have little to do with information systems, they are modeling the inherent nature of the business, in potentially many dimensions. For example a component might be a banking component added to a retailing enterprise, but equally it could be a relationship, a business processes, or a business competency such as a training program.
