Could we add "self-publicist" to the description? Malcolm McLaren is described thus, and he's nothing like as much of a self-publicist as Richard Wiseman. -88.111.109.155 (talk) 09:29, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

If you have some sort of reliable source that seriously calls him this, then feel free to quote it. Personal opinion that he's more self-publicising than somebody else doesn't count, though. --McGeddon (talk) 11:15, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
Out of curiosity I googled for "self-publicist" and Wiseman and found a total of zero hits describing him as such. — BillC talk 11:53, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
Hmmm... no reliable sources call him a self-publicist? It's the fundamental defining factor in his career! Well, I'm intelligent and I've followed Wiseman's career for some years (more like BEEN FORCED TO FOLLOW Wiseman's career for some years because you can't fucking escape from his self-publicity) so I think that makes me a reliable source. He's a self-publicist, no doubt about it. It's what he does. Ceaselessly. - 88.109.27.53 (talk) 18:16, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Please read WP:RS if you want to know what does and doesn't count as a reliable source for this encyclopaedia. The personal opinions of editors are not reliable sources. --McGeddon (talk) 19:03, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Not just that, but checking scholar.google.com seems to suggest he has been published in (semi-)serious journals. Please leave the falsehood out, even on talk-pages. "Self-published" is a term that should be reserved towards people who publish to a non-scientist public for example. He's also being cited, which is rarely if ever done with self-published authors. --Benjaminbruheim (talk) 22:55, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Eh? I didn't say he was self-publisher, I said he was a self-publicist, a completely different thing. -88.110.39.28 (talk) 12:54, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, stupid of me --Benjaminbruheim (talk) 16:58, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Other Richard Wiseman

anyone going to create a page for the other Richard Wiseman; the 17th century surgeon? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.136.106.4 (talk) 20:23, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

If you'd like to yourself, you can create an account and then click on this link: Richard Wiseman (surgeon). If not, you can leave a request at WP:RA and see if anyone takes up your suggestion. — BillC talk 23:18, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
