[edit] Inventing the teddy bear

The invention of the teddy bear has also been attributed to Morris Michtom (and his wife Rose).

The last reference, the Teddy Bear Museum, gives some context.

  • 1894 - an early stuffed bear by German toy company Gebrüder Sussenguth.
  • 1897 - Steiff company toy has toy bear in catalogue and at toy fair
  • 1899 - Margaret Steiff gets patent on a few soft toy bears
  • 1902 - Morris Michtom sells the first "Teddy’s Bear" in his toy shop in the U.S.

So, "teddy bear" and even toy bear / stuffed bear are not correct. — ERcheck (talk) 03:03, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

I'm going to remove the statement from the introduction that he is credited with "inventing the Teddy bear". — ERcheck (talk) 03:09, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
