Talk:Richard Mahoney
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Is it just me, or should the pronounciation be MA-han-ee rather than ma-HAN-ee? I worked on his campaign in 2004, and that's what I seem to remember. -Joshuapaquin 18:20, September 12, 2005 (UTC)
- We call him ma-HAN-ee, but what do I know, I'm the enemy :-D -- Earl Andrew - talk 18:54, 12 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] that piece needs a bit of work
For one thing, Penny Collenette was never in the nomination race, so, she was not bested by Mahoney. Khaled Hashem finished second for the Liberal nomination. There was a third person, the least known, and he finished third. I don't know his name, and I did not personally even attend that nomination.
I don't think an objective encylopedia should hypothesize that Prime Minister Martin intended RM for Cabinet, either. That is all hypothesis. Even if it is what I might prefer personally.
There are other elements of that text coloured by an NDP-leaning bias, as well, in my opinion.

[edit] Scandal
Wasn't Mahoney in some sort of a scandal a few weeks ago? I think it should be added to this article. I don't know the specifics, however. -- Earl Andrew - talk 08:42, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Recent Edits
Whoever's editing from 70.29.200.164 is putting up contentions critical and detracting of Mahoney and the Liberal party while making additions to Paul Dewar's article that are complimentary. While the Dewar edits are completely meritorious, and neccessary for providing more information on what is an important subject for the Canadian electorate, there's no room for partisanship here and we can only confirm what Mahoney has said or done. We cannot be speculative, and we cannot be pejorative.
[edit] Dick Money
Several times i and other colleagues of Richard have changed the name in the article to to Richard "Dick Money" Mahoney. Richard is a good friend of mine and the nickname "Dick Money" was used often by his election team. It is a term of respect which Richard himself also uses. I can obviously understand why this can be seen as graffiti but it is in fact a well known nickname. Please refrain from removing it in the future without considering what i have said.
- I will continue to remove this unless you can provide a citation that this is a common nickname. Googling "Dick money" and "Richard Mahoney" together turns up 0 hits, suggesting that even if Mahoney does use that nickname, it is certainly not relevant to an encyclopedia entry. -Joshuapaquin 22:56, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
