Ricky Whittle is an English actor and has appeared in Sky One's Dream Team as Ryan Naysmith, Holby City and is now currently playing Calvin Valentine in popular Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks.

Ricky broke his leg in a charity match during his time at Dream Team. When he returned to acting, his character Ryan Naysmith had the story of a broken leg written into the script[citation needed].

In October 2007, Whittle was featured in the guise of the devil on a special Halloween cover of Ikonz magazine, and has also been Torso Of The Week, in an edition of Heat magazine.

In January 2008, Ricky appeared on a celebrity edition of The Weakest Link, reaching the final, but losing out to Crimewatch UK star, Rav Wilding. Wilding then donated half of the prize money to Whittle's charity J-U-M-P, with Whittle describing him as "a beautiful man".[1]

[edit] Personal life

Ricky is good friends with co-stars Jamie Lomas, Stuart Manning and former Dream Team co-stars Robert Kazinsky and Kara Tointon. He still keeps in touch with many of his Dream Team co-stars.[2]

Since then, he has moved on to be a Hollyoaks heart-throb, and made it to the Hollyoaks Hunks 2008 Calender.

Ricky Whittle came up with the slogan "Mmm, Danone", which has appeared at the end of each of the company's television advertisements since 2002. Whittle said, "It just came to me one day when I was driving in my car. To my surprise, Danone loved it." Whittle has always refused to disclose the exact amount of money that the slogan has made him over the years, but has admitted that "it has made life much easier."

Ricky Whittle is currently dating Jade Howe of Harwich Essex. They met when Ricky attended a charity football match in the area with his fellow, Hollyoaks cast.
