Ricky (Rick) Rene Maymi is a multi-instrumentalist from San Francisco, California. He is most famous for his work with the neo-psychedelic rock band, The Brian Jonestown Massacre (The BJM), which he originally played drums for as a founding member, but has recently rejoined as a current guitarist. [1]
Maymi is a founding member of the neo-psychedelic/surrealist rock band, The Imajinary Friends, in which he continues to work with today. The line-up for The Imajinary Friends originally spawned from the initial line-up of The BJM. It has included Travis Threlkel (formerly of The BJM, Tipsy), Matt Hollywood (of The BJM, The Out Crowd, The Rebel Drones), Graham Bonnar (formerly of Swervedriver) and Tim Digulla (of Tipsy).[2]
Maymi has also worked with the San Francisco-based rock band, Mellow Drunk, and has also played in the rock band, Smallstone with former-BJM alumni Jeff Davies and Mara Keagle.
Maymi has also played in Australian rock band, The Black Ryder, as well as Willie B. Carruthers' band, Freelovebabies, on guitar.
He is also known for making guest appearances with various bands including The Church, The Clientele, The Triffids, Sonic Boom's Spectrum, Steven Roback of The Rain Parade, Twink and The Clean.
