Rick Scarry (born November 14, 1942) is an American character actor/writer who has appeared in over 60 television shows, 22 feature films and numerous television commercials.
Born Frederick A. Scarry in Delaware, Ohio, Rick spent many years as a radio broadcaster before switching careers mid-life. During his broadcasting years, he worked at such legendary Los Angeles radio stations as KMET, KHJ and KMPC. He has also performed numerous voice-over roles on television shows and commercials.
After many years of study with such noted acting teachers as Stella Adler and Adam Hill, Scarry left the radio broadcasting industry in 1989 and entered the competitive world of acting with small roles on such shows as LA Law and Married With Children. As his resume grew, the roles became larger and over the years Rick has guest starred in numerous television shows such as Desperate Housewives, The Office, Cold Case, 7th Heaven, Star Trek The Next Generationand many others. He recently appeared in the recurring role of city councilman Brendan Kelly on the Showtime series Weeds.
Among his feature films are The Negotiator, Space Cowboys, and Addams Family Values. Rick had lead roles in several independent films such as The Absence of Light and Dating Games People Playaccording to imdb.com
Currently single, Scarry has two daughters, Michelle (born 1967) , by his first wife Marilyn Dinovo and Jennifer (born 1971) by his second wife Elaine Zimmerli. Rick lives in the Toluca Lake area of Los Angeles.
