Rick DeMont (born 1956-04-21) was a swimmer who set a record for the 1500m freestyle. He joined the US Olympic team to compete in the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany.
In 1973, at First swimming championship in Belgrade, former Yugoslavia, DeMont became the first man to swim the 400m freestyle in under 4 minutes (3.58,18).
The International Olympic Committee took Rick DeMont's gold medal from the 400-meter freestyle at the 1972 Munich Games after he tested positive for a banned substance in his asthma medication. The gold medal was reinstated in 2001 when the IOC found that Demont was innocent of the initial charge
