Richland Township covers an area of 43.15 square miles (111.77 square kilometers); of this, 0.43 square miles (1.12 square kilometers) or 1 percent is water. The streams of Beech Creek, Letsinger Branch, Miller Branch, Ore Branch, Plummer Creek, Ritter Branch, Skinner Branch, Stalcup Branch and Wildcat Branch run through this township.
