Richland High School shooting

The Richland High School shooting occurred on Wednesday, November 15, 1995[1], in Lynnville, Tennessee, a small town located in Giles County. One student and a teacher were killed, and another teacher was seriously wounded by a shot to the head. The perpetrator was high school student Jamie Rouse, age 17. Rouse used a .22-calibre Remington Viper semi-automatic rifle.[2] Rouse was convicted as an adult of two counts of first degree murder and one count of attempted murder, he was sentenced to life in prison without a parole.[3]

Stephen Abbot was also charged with criminal responsibility and sentenced to a 40 year life term for driving Rouse to school with ammunition and knowing his intentions to shoot instructors at his school.

Rouse hid his Remington Viper behind some bushes and drove to pick up Stephen Abbot. He was armed with the Viper loaded with a ten round magazine, he also carried a block of .22 rounds. Abbot drove Jamie the rest of the way to school. Jamie got out and walked to the door. In the hall he confronted two female adults and shot them both in the head. He then smiled and aimed the rifle at a coach, however he missed and hit a freshman in the neck killing her. He was then disarmed by the coach.
