Located in New York City, RichFX Inc. is one of a handful of providers of "rich media" solutions for e-commerce. The purpose of these solutions is to visually enhance e-commerce websites such that conversion rate, average order volume, and number of products viewed improve. An additional goal is to facilitate the bulk handling of the graphic materials used in e-commerce sites. Towards that goal RichFX and other providers (Adobe Systems/Scene7, Equilibrium, Inc., [1] Liquid Pixels, Yawah, [2] Zmags) offer a software platform that combines elements of a Digital Asset Management System, with Authoring Tools and Media Players tailored to the needs of e-commerce. The platform is offered either as SaaS (RichFX, Adobe) or as enterprise software (Yawah, Equilibrium).
The company was founded in the second half of the 1990s in Israel and originally offered an unsuccessful 3D platform, also with the goal of improving the visuals of e-commerce. It then relocated its headquarters and restarted in the early 2000s with its current image-based platform. Today RichFX counts many of of the leading retailers, catalogers and e-commerce sites in the US among its customers.
