Richard Spendlove

Richard Spendlove MBE (born Shepperton Surrey 16 June 1939) is a British radio producer/presenter and writer. He worked for the former British Railways for 35 years, and in 1963 was appointed Relief Station Master at Cambridge, one of the youngest men in that job.

Richard retired from the railways at 50 and now works for the BBC on what is believed to be the longest continually running 'chat show' in the history of British broadcasting. He was awarded the MBE "For Services to Regional and Local Radio Broadcasting".

He created and co-wrote with David Croft the BBC comedy series, Oh, Doctor Beeching!, making a guest appearance as the inspector, Mr. Ernest Orkindale.

He recorded a tape for the Norfolk Constabulary giving advice about distraction burglary and callers at your door. The recording of this tape was sponsored by his fan club.

Richard Spendlove's programme is the longest running phone inn show anywhere on U.K radio,the show has been going for 20 years,you can listen to Richard on various BBC local radio stations in the South and East of England. The stations that broadcast Richard's show are BBC radio Cambridgeshire,BBC radio Norfolk,BBC radio Suffolk,BBC Essex,BBC 3cr(Bedfordshire,Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire),BBC radio Northampton and BBC radio Kent. Richard's programme starts every Saturday at 9pm(U.K Time). For people who do not live in the areas above you can always log on to any of those BBC local radio station's websites and listen on-line,the programme is on listen again so if you miss it live you can listen at the time of your choice for a whole week.
