Richard Pitman

Richard Pitman, is a retired jump jockey who rode 470 winners in his career including Lanzarote in the 1974 Champion Hurdle and 4000 losers (including Crisp in the 1973 Grand National). He also won the King George VI Chase at Kempton Park Racecourse twice, the Whitbread Gold Cup once and the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup once.

He joined the BBC TV racing team in 1976. As an author he has written seven racing novels and five non-fiction books. He was formally married to Jenny Pitman, they divorced in 1977.

A couple of things that most people agree on is that he's a fine judge of a horse race and when appearing on TV he often wears clothes that look like they are from the 1920's or 1930's Pitman has a very traditional, almost 'Retro' style dress sense.
