Richard Petherick (born April 4, 1986 in Hamilton) is a field hockey player from New Zealand. While at Hamilton Boys' High School Petherick played for regional and national representative teams. He earned his first cap for the national men's team, nicknamed The Black Sticks, in 2005 against Malaysia. He's a solid defender from Waikato, who was the only player introduced against Malaysia in March 2005 who then went on to gain selection to play at both the Sultan Azlan Shah tournament in May and for the European tour in July. He is currently working as a relief teacher at Hamilton Boys High School. He played in the HBHS First XI and is extremely talented.
