He has played in Mexico since 13 August 2005, when he joined Cruz Azul, scoring 4 goals against UAG Tecos in his debut match. He later joined CF Pachuca. In May 2006, after a successful campaign with Pachuca, he re-signed with Cruz Azul to a 2-year contract. He is one of the best players of La Maquina. In the final of Pachuca San Luis he scored the winning goal that gave Pachuca another championship. Today he's very active and is a fundamental player in Cruz Azul's game.
Recently, he has been transferred to Cruz Azul's Rival Club América. Richard already wanted to leave Cruz Azul because his future in Cruz Azul depended on what would happen with the transfer of Cesar Delgado.
On June 6, 2008 he has been put in the transfers list in Club America. There has been a rumor that places him in Club Puebla or Club Atlas.
