Richard Mawrey

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Richard Mawrey is a judge in the United Kingdom.

Mawrey's highest profile ruling to date was handed down in 2005 when, as an election commissioner in Birmingham, England, he ruled invalid council elections held the year before, calling for re-votes in two districts. He blamed most of the electoral fraud on absentee ballot manipulation.

When election officials affirmed the integrity of the mail-in vote, Mawrey replied, "Anybody who has sat through the case I have just tried and listened to evidence of electoral fraud, that would disgrace a banana republic, would find this statement surprising."
