Richard Pryce Matthews is the Republican Party candidate for Congress in Maryland's 2nd congressional district.[1] He is facing two-term incumbent, Democrat Dutch Ruppersberger in the 2008 congressional election.[2] Matthews, a 27-year-old computer systems engineer from Orchard Beach, is making his first congressional run. He is also the Anne Arundel County, Maryland organizer for the Ron Paul 2008 Presidential campaign.[3]

Matthews was born in Baltimore, Maryland and raised in nearby Arnold, Maryland. He attended Broadneck High School, where he graduated in 1998.

Matthews is a computer network & security engineer with multiple industry certifications. He is best known for his work on the network at the 2004 G8 Summit in Sea Island, Georgia.

Matthews is a moderate Republican with libertarian political views on civil liberties and economic freedom. He opposes the Iraq war, and generally supports freedom of choice in both personal and economic matters.
