Richard J. Green

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Richard J. Green (* 1964 in Boston MA) is an American chemist known for his work against Holocaust denial. He is a member of The Holocaust History Project[citation needed]

He was raised in a brick single-family dwelling[citation needed] located in Shaker Heights, Ohio, a shady suburb of Cleveland, and he graduated in 1983 from Hawken School[citation needed] a private preparatory day school for boys and girls. During his early years at Hawken he was known as 'Richy', but this was shortened to 'Rich' by the time he reached high school.[citation needed] A man of the left, he was known for his verbal parsimony and firm moral conviction, illustrated through active student struggle against arbitrary impositions of the school administration.[citation needed]

Rich Green received a BA from St. John's College, U.S. in Santa Fe, New Mexico[citation needed], a "Great Books" school. Here he participated in the St. John's Search and Rescue team, and was an accomplished rock climber.[citation needed] Although he was never one for use of profane language, more than once he was heard cursing when he could not complete a difficult climbing move on the sharp end of a rope at Joshua Tree National Park.[citation needed]

He received his PhD. in physical chemistry from Stanford University in 1997 under the guidance of Professor Richard N. Zare. He was a postdoc and faculty intern at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, and went on to work for a contractor to the U.S. Government. He became known for his refutation of the Leuchter report and the Rudolf report, done together with Jamie McCarthy. Besides, he issued an expert report to the court on the occasion of the Irving vs Lipstadt Trial.
