Richard Hayes is a professor of Buddhist philosophy at the University of New Mexico.
Hayes is a noted scholar in the field of Buddhist Sanskrit, specialising in the classical Mahayana.
Hayes was formerly Professor of Sanskrit at McGill University in Canada.
