[edit] Photography

At its outset Richard Goodall Gallery brought contemporary photography to Manchester as the first large scale accessible gallery in the UK and the only Photography gallery outside of London. Starting with 33 Still Lives by Anton Corbijn[1] it has shown major exclusive photography exhibitions from Mark Seliger - Platinums [2] and Graham Nash[3]

This new focus is brining the best of the world wide street art and contemporary art to the UK public

[edit] The Rock Poster Explosion

With the success of the new shows Richard Goodall Gallery dedicated an entire floor of the gallery to the new genre of Rock Poster Art. This covered the new wave of the American based artists that were creating the next generation of music posters in the tradition of the sixties poster artists of San Francisco's Family Dog and Bill Graham Presents and Detroit. The likes of Wes Wilson, Moscoso, Mouse & Kelley, Garry Grimshaw and Dennis Loren.

This new art form started again with Frank Kozik and Coop in the late 90's and continues today with a whole new generation of artists. The Richard Goodall Gallery and now the new Richard Goodall Gallery: Underground is the only gallery in the UK exhibiting this work.

The new work was showcased in a number of exhibitions most notable in the Post Neo Explosionism show with Emek, Justin Hampton and Jermaine Rogers which featured an in-store appearance by Queens of The Stone Age, the subject of much of the work[5] [6]

It has also shown rock art exhibitions by Rob Jones which also launched the Orchestral White Stripes record Aluminiun[7]. Two exhibitions from Jay Ryan Squirrels Taking Risks in 2004 and Mammals Making Lists in 2005.

Emek was back in 2007 for a stealth one day exhibition in 2007 which also featured an in-store surprise appearance by Get Cape Wear Cape Fly who was premiering songs from his new upcoming record.

The Richard Goodall Gallery: Underground has an extensive collection of Designer Urban Vinyl from the leading producers around the globe. Encompassing work from Kidrobot, StrangeCo, Toy2R, Jamungo and Mindstyle.

The work they show in the vinyl format crosses over with the art from the same artists in other mediums of prints and original paintings. They are also strong proponents of producing exclusive works and have had gallery exclusive pieces from Dalek and Frank Kozik in 20" Dunny's, Smorkin Labbits and Ice Bots. There have been a number of exhibition that have included vinyl pieces Dalek, Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters, and special signings and openings for the French Dunny series and 3 Bears Dunnys with Jon Burgerman, I Love Dust and Tado.

They also show an extensive range of custom toys with Kathie Olivas having 20 custom vinyl pieces at her show, and Dalek producing a custom Munny for the show.

They are unique in that anyone purchasing a blank Munny from the gallery can have it displayed and sold in the gallery for free.
