[edit] Personal life

Richard is the son of television actor David Fleeshman and former Brookside and Coronation Street actress Sue Jenkins. His older sister, Emily Fleeshman, is also an actress. He has a younger sister called Rosie Fleeshman.

In May 2006 he won the 'sexiest male' award at the British Soap Awards and the same award at the inside soap awards.

[edit] Acting career

He played the role of Craig Harris in Coronation Street from 2002 - 2006. He was the only member of his on-screen family to escape the axe in 2005, but he later left the programme. His last episode aired on 16 October 2006.

Richard filmed an episode of Blue Murder in 2007 in which he played a character called Ben Holroyd. He starred alongside another ex-soapstar, Jill Halfpenny, and the pair played mother and son. The episode, called 'Crisis Management', aired in December 2007 on ITV.

[edit] Music career

Fleeshman is a singer, and in 2003 he won a Stars in Their Eyes celebrity special as Will Young. He also won Soapstar Superstar in 2006, a programme in which soap stars sing, competing against each other in order to win money for charity. Fleeshman donated the £200,000 prize money to the Kirsty Appeal.[1]

Fleeshman also plays the piano and guitar, but unlike his Coronation Street character he prefers acoustic music to the heavy goth music that Craig listened to in the show[citation needed]. On 22 April 2007, he performed on the ITV1 show an Audience with Coronation Street. Richard sang both with Andy Whyment (who was runner-up of Soapstar Superstar) and solo, as well as playing the piano.

Fleeshman signed a major record deal with Universal Records in 2007 and then completed writing his debut album. His first single, 'Coming Down', was released on the 19 November 2007 and reached #78 in the UK. His next single 'Hold Me Close' was released on 18 February 2008.

He has just completed his first headline tour of the UK. He will also be supporting Elton John on his summer tour around the UK and Germany.
