Richard Edwards (? – 1773) naval officer and Commodore Governor of Newfoundland, died England.
Edwards was a captain in the Royal Navy and was appointed governor of Newfoundland in 1746. In his naval career he was captain of several vessels: the Fox, the Torrington, the Princess Mary, and the Princess Amelia.
