Richard Carpenter (born September 30, 1972 in Sheppey) is an English footballer. In fifteen years as a professional player he has played for Gillingham, Fulham, Cardiff City, Brighton & Hove Albion and Welling United.
On 16th February 2007, Carpenter has his contract terminated by mutual consent at Brighton as he has lost his way in the first-team and the arrival of a few more midfielders to the club. Carpenter will always be looked upon as one of Brighton's best serving players and also captained the club during Charlie Oatway's spell on the sidelines.
Later that day he had signed for Nationwide Conference South side Welling United.
