Richard Bartel (born February 3, 1983) is an American football quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys who was invited to participate in their mini-camp prior the 2007 National Football League season. He attended and played for Southern Methodist University in 2003 then transferred to Tarleton State University for his final two seasons of collegiate football. He was also drafted as a pitcher by the Cincinnati Reds in the 17th round of the 2001 Major League Draft.

Bartel attended Grapevine High School in Grapevine, Texas and was a student and a letterman in football and baseball. In football, he was named the District Offensive Player of the Year, was an All-Region selection, and named as an All-State selection. Richard Bartel graduated from Grapevine High School in 2001.
