Rice College is a respected school in Ennis, County Clare, Republic of Ireland. it is formerly an all boys school, but became coeducational in 2001. In 2006 construction started on an extension and was completed in early 2007. Entrance into the college is quite difficult and therefore most students that are accepted come from the primary school next door. The school offers a wide range of subjects for students to choose from and requires first years to do all the subjects to allow them to make a more informed decision of what they would like to do. As of the next school year, the transition year will be introduced again with a class of 20-24 students being taken on.
