Ricardo Fernandes, (born April 21, 1978 in Portugal), is a Portuguese football midfielder who plays for FC Metalurh Donetsk.
After a number of impressive performances for Gil Vicente FC, Ricardo was transferred to Sporting Lisboa where he was hailed as one of Portugal's brightest young prospects. After only one season with Sporting, Ricardo was signed by Jose Mourinho to become a key member of his FC Porto side which famously won the UEFA Champions League and Portuguese League title.
After a spell with Académica Coimbra, Ricardo was signed on a lucrative three-year deal to APOEL in Cyprus. In his first season at the club Ricardo became an instant crowd hero with his surging runs, deadly set-pieces and creative passing, scoring 9 times with a remarkable 30 assists. In his second season Ricardo scored 13 goals as he helped APOEL to the league title.
In February 2008 he signed with Ukrainian side FC Metalurh Donetsk.
