Ricardo Caballero Tostado (born January 19, 1982) is a Mexican singer who was the runner-up of the second season of Latin American Idol. Ricardo is known as the "Caballero de Mexico". He is a gentleman in every sense of the word, as he is rightly named. He has a stage presence and charisma that draws his audience to him. The range of his voice is incredible and his repertoire is excellent.
Caballero was born in the city of Guadalajara in the state of Jalisco, located in western Mexico. He is the only son of Raul Caballero, a performer, and Georgina Tostado Orozco de Caballero a fitness trainer; he has an older paternal half brother. Caballero began singing at bars and hotel lobbies at the age of 17. A year later, he began performing shows with a great maestro – Raul Caballero – his father. He continued performing in order to help pay for his studies at the Universidad Iberoamericana, or Ibero-American University, at the Guadalajara campus from which he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Marketing. Both of his parents have supported and encouraged his love of music from a young age. In fact, his maternal grandparents, Sergio Tostado Casillas and Georgina Orozco de Tostado, gave him a guitar at a very young age that they had purchased for him on one of their trips.
Ricardo has had the opportunity of being the opening performer for concerts for international groups that include: La Quinta Estacion and Ha-Ash, among others. He has his own self-titled show,Ricardo Caballero; he is the singer and is accompanied by a band of five additional people. They have toured Mexico. Ricardo still has the same friends that he has had since childhood, but his circle of friends also now includes his band members.
Ricardo gave a concert in Guadalajara, Jalisco on May 22, 2008. This concert was given to thank all his supporters in his hometown of Guadalajara.
