[edit] Overview
Ric originates from Ghana, where his brother Kumi runs a hospital. He has been married five times - twice to Clinical Care Consultant Lola Griffin - and is currently married to Thandie Abebe although their relationship is seemingly over after Ric discovered that Thandie had no formal medical training and that the medical school she claimed to have attended has no record of her having attended. Before arriving in Holby, he had a relationship with General Surgical Consultant Diane Lloyd, to whom he proposed but was rejected. He has eight children, however only two have every appeared on-screen, his daughter, Jess Griffin has worked alongside him at Holby City as an AAU nurse and his son Leo. Through Jess and Leo, Ric had two grandsons, but both died as infants.
