Hi Steve,

Yes, that photo, and the one where he is smiling that I had framed for the funeral, were both part of a portrait sitting I did of Mr. Rose back in July, 1974. I have all of the original Kodachome slides.

I would be happy to grant "free use" of both images. I suspect the difference between "public domain" and "free use" is, has to do with ownership versus ability to use, so I guess I would prefer the latter, just in case it allows me to retain some right to control negative use of the image that placing it in the public domain might not otherwise permit. The GNU stuff has a whole organization and website behind it that I don't have time to research and so don't want to mess with.
