Rib Crib
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Rib Crib is a table-service restaurant chain which specializes in barbecue and smoked meats, notable for their spare ribs, pork spare, and baby back ribs, and their bold mild and hot sauces. All locations share a common theme of rustic lodge-like surroundings; "Western whimsical", as its founder Bret Chandler termed it.[1]
The first Rib Crib opened in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1992, using a hickory-wood-burning smoker within an old house. There are 50 locations in the chain. Each features a hickory-wood-burning rotisserie smoker that is gas powered.
Restaurants are located in Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Iowa and Florida. A future store is being planned for Montana.[2]
In June 2005 Rib Crib was in the magazine Restaurant Business top 50 growth chains list. This was after the chain featured a 25% increase in sales in 2004., and was planning a co-branded venture with KFC[3] This venture took place in Marshfield, Missouri, and is believed that a barbecue and fried chicken pairing was a natural, due to both being popular at picnics.[4]
In 2006 Rib Crib was listed as one of the best places to work by Chain Leader magazine, due partially to its cash incentives for workers.[5]
