[edit] Your recent edits
Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 20:03, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome Rianon Burnet/Archive 1!
Hello, Rianon Burnet/Archive 1, I'm xaosflux and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date, and use edit summaries whenever you change a page. If you have any questions, need help or assistance, check out Wikipedia:Ask a question or contact me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Enjoy Wikipedia!! |
[edit] Re:WOW
Hi. Thanks, I never have anyone leave a message actually complimenting something I've done. Usually I've broken some unknown Wikipedia rule about uploading images and stuff. Anyway, you were asking about the little userboxes on the profile page. They're really simple to use. If you find some userbox, say, on my profile, you can just go to edit page, and copy the script out of my page. For example, say, you want the christian userbox. You click edit at the top of my page, and copy out of there. It will then look like this:This user is a Christian. |
[edit] Re:HI
Hi to you to. My user page is just code. If you want, I could do your page up to look like it. I could also adopt you if you like, to help you around the place. F9T 18:04, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
- OK, so do you want me to do your user page and adopt you, or just one. Also please please sign your comments like ~~~~ that. That way people will be able to reply to your comments quicker. F9T 16:59, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your signature
Hi there, thanks for the note. Your signature is somewhat broken. You can check it in Special:Preferences. The problem is that is is linking to a page that does not exist, buy having your name in it as Rianon. You can make it sign with just your first name, but it still needs to link to your page, you can do that by changing it to something like this: Rianon. When other view it they will see: Rianon, and be able to follow the link to your page. For more on signatures, see WP:SIG. Happy editing, — xaosflux Talk 04:41, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
- Your signature is still horribly broken, please reread my notes above, or some of the ones below. Worse case do the following:
- Go to Special:Preferences
- UNCHECK "Raw Signature"
- Click SAVE at the bottom of the page
- Thank you, — xaosflux Talk 02:01, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: LOVE>>>>>>>
Hi, Rianon. Thanks for the message. The code from my page was inspired and ripped off from other users. Welcome to the encyclopedia. I hope you decide to stay and contribute to the project. Here's some stuff to help you out and get you started:
|
- What Wikipedia is about
Thanks for your kind comments. I want to again welcome you to the community and explain what we're all about.
“ | Imagine a world in which every single person on the planet is given free access to the sum of all human knowledge. That's what we're doing. | ” |
We're building an encyclopedia here. As some other editors have mentioned above, your signature (which is created by typing ~~~~
— the tilde key is located to the left of the 1 key), should link to either your user page or talk page, if not both. Here's a couple options for you:
Rianon
- yields RianonRianon Burnet
yields Rianon Burnet (Burnet being bold because that's the page it's being displayed on. It would appear as a regular link on every other page.)
To use these, go to your Preferences, located at the top of the page. Under User profile, there's a box beside Signature. Copy and paste the code there, then click the box below that which reads "Raw signature (If unchecked, the contents of the box above will be treated as your nickname and link automatically to your user page. If checked, the contents should be formatted with Wiki markup, including all links. Do not use images, templates, or external links in your signature.)"
You've been offered adoption by a user above. I think you would benefit from that and encourage you to accept. The editor will act as a mentor. Guiding you through Wikipedia, hopefully leading you to an area you will enjoy contributing. To practice editing, try the sandbox. You can do pretty much anything there.
Also read WP:NOT. That page lists all of the things Wikipedia is not. That will help you understand what's acceptable here and what's not. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Lara❤Love 19:30, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Because I'm clever! LOL! No if you see here this will track every single edit you ever make to wikipedia talk pages images and articles. If you click on history at the top of the page where it says contribs after peoples name you can see everybody's contributiions to the project ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 15:16, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
I wish you all the best anyway. Yes I don't know what is it today - I keep eating but I keep feeling hungry! I should just eat a giant cake and be done with it huh? Hopefully you can find articles you are interested in. I don't know if you are interested in films but you are always welcome to fill in the cast details on pages like American films of 1982 etc. This would be a great help ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 16:26, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
E.g find a redlink such as Balbina dam (a dam which is in Brazil). CLick on it and it'll say wikipedia does not have this article. Click it Then type info into the page and just click save and it will automatically create new pages. Now google Balbina dam and you'll find a source such as this. Find a few basic facts about it and then write it into the page and add Category:Dams in Brazil then save.Howwver you need to assert it notability as there a monitors who will delete all articles which are nonsense or not worthy of an entry -wikipedia doesn't except an article on anything but is is very liberal in content. Now atch how I create a new page. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 16:36, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm sure you'll find that many of the Shakespeare related articles are highly developed. I'd suggest looking through each of his works such as Antony and Cleopatra and seeing if you can find areas that need work ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 16:38, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
If you need help editing an article I'll be glad to help you. Regards ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 19:55, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
OK no probs, Good luck editing ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 20:09, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
Hello Riannon. Thanks for the smiley! Ah if you want to add detail from the book great but be careful to avoid copywright and reference the book you got it from in the article. If you see how articles are referenced you'll soon get the hang of it. If you want to upload the 1892 book cover also -you can do this as copywright on that image would have expired I think. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 22:02, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Poetry side of Wikipedia?
It strikes me as an excellent idea to rewrite the whole encyclopedia in verse, though I'm afraid that large portions would need to be recast in haiku or limericks. E. E. Cummings - style probably works best for mathematical articles.
Seriously - sure, but what do you mean by the "poetry side of Wikipedia"? - Smerdis of Tlön 15:02, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- We have an occasionally active wikiproject for poetry, and a poetry portal that seek to call attention to poetry articles that might need some care. But perhaps the best way would be to examine the pages about writers and poems you feel deeply about, and see if anything seems missing in them. - Smerdis of Tlön 15:29, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
-
- Generally, people who have articles on their watch list will know when a given article has been edited, and the History tab lets people know what has been changed. - Smerdis of Tlön 17:08, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] What?
I'm unsure what the message was about on my talk page. I never used the term "reborn", nor did I ever necessarily voice support of the wording of the category called "Life-death-rebirth deities/gods". Concerning this category, it does appear that Jesus qualifies, no matter how awkward the title's phrasing may sound. I'm curious concerning your opinion of the term "rebirth". I don't believe I've heard anyone use it in regard to the Resurrection.--C.Logan (talk) 22:15, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- No offense taken; I just want people to know that I'm aware of the orthodox (and Orthodox) position concerning Jesus. The phraseology doesn't exactly fit, but the criterion does, and so that's why I brought up that category alternative.--C.Logan (talk) 00:19, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
-
- Yeah, books are fine too; the internet just makes it easier for people to verify, not necessarily better. There are other limitations on what kinds of sources can be used, though they depend on the type of information presented. I would say books are preferred, at least in terms of reliability (they go through a review process as long as they aren't self-published, and that makes the information within more trustworthy). Feel free to ask more questions if needed.--C.Logan (talk) 22:11, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Example: .
You copy and paste that onto your userbox page. And you can search the userboxes for whichever ones you want. Bunny 06:21, 5 December 2007 (UTC) Bunny

[edit] Re: Question

What is mediation? I don't understand what this is? Please reply on my talk page thank you.... Rianon Burnet 14:47, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- Mediation is an activity in which a neutral third party, the mediator, assists two or more parties in order to help them achieve an agreement on a matter of common interest.
- The common aspects of mediation are:
- a difference of positions between the respective parties
- a genuine desire on the part of the parties to find a positive solution to the dispute and to accept a discussion about respective interests and objectives
- the intention of achieving a positive result through the help of an independent, neutral third-party not connected with any of the involved parties
- the intention of achieving a steady result, preferably a long-lasting agreement between the parties
- The ordinary form of a mediated agreement is the consensus of the parties on a proposal that has been developed with the help of the mediator. The mediator may or may not set out a formal agreement for the parties to accept; some mediators prefer to help guide the parties towards developing their own agreement. Agreement to mediate does not obligate the parties to accept any proposed agreements.
- Mediation does not have a set structure or methods, although some common elements exist:
- Clarification of the respective interests and objectives
- Conversion of respective subjective evaluations into more objective values
- Representation to the parties of a collection of possible solutions
- Translation of the result of discussions into a draft of agreement (perhaps in written form)
- Formalisation of the agreement.
- Each mediator is granted the freedom to develop his or her own method, and to apply it as necessary for the specific case at hand. The method used by any given mediator may differ from the general guidelines set out here. This is not a formal policy, and mediators are not obligated to utilize methodologies set out herein.
- The role of a Wikipedia mediator is far less controversial than the role of a Wikipedia arbitrator; mediators are facilitators of voluntary discussion, while arbitrators hear evidence and issue binding rulings, including the ability to issue sanctions against users.
- Mediation is at its best when it is simultaneously protecting content and community. Mediation aims at working with the users in conflict to incorporate the information or viewpoints of both, while ensuring that the result conforms to all applicable Wikipedia policies. At the same time, it endeavors to produce sufficient peace between the parties to allow amicable discussion and prevent the need for future dispute resolution.
- Mediation is intended to achieve a way for people to keep working happily together and build better articles, while growing from the mutual exchange.
- Mediation doesn't need to produce mutual amity between the disputants, though increased tolerance and respect is an important aim of any mediation.
- Mediation is not a forum for policy decisions. If the locus of the dispute is not covered by current policy, the matter must be referred to the Wikipedia community as a whole. Under no circumstances will mediation between a small number of parties be substituted for a valid community-wide exercise in consensus building.
- Wikipedia mediators are permitted and encouraged to use their own best judgement to recommend a solution to the disputants, one that is in the best interests of the project. Where the position of one disputant is clearly unreasonable, fringe, or based on a strong point of view, the mediator is not required to subvert the integrity of the encyclopedia in order to reach a resolution.
- I hope that helps :) Cheers, Daniel 04:25, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

You said you had some comments or questions about my Jesus beliefs or something... that's cool. Please post them on my talk page. I tried putting that Jesus tag on your page, I don't think it worked perfectly. peace out Scifiintel (talk) 21:44, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] WikiLinks
Hi, I noticed from your user page, that you may not correctly understand the use of wikilinks. To link to a page in Wikipedia, you do not need to copy out the address at the top. All you need to to is write the title of the page in These, for instance, if you wanted to link to Santa Claus, you would have to put in Santa Claus. You can also change the text displayed on the link, i.e. White bearded chap, for that you would put Text to be displayed, hope this helps, P.s. there is a comment hidden on your user page! Click the Edit this page button to read it! Merry Christmas F9T 14:20, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
