Exams make sadWell, they're over - I finished my last exam a little under an hour ago, and I don't have to worry about them any more until the end of October. Yay! History Extension this afternoon was hard, but nothing I wasn't prepared for. English Extension, on the other hand, was... strenuous. The less said about it, the better. ;) Anyway, thanks for asking about them. Overall, they weren't too bad, but I have a lot of preparation for the HSC. Come back soon, so I can bitch about it more! :) RandyWang (chat me up/fix me up) 06:53, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
Woah, woah. Since when has it been more pathetic to devote a little time to copyediting an article on a famous singer... than to spend hours at a time completely rewriting an article on a class of video game? Let's keep things in perspective, here. ;) But yes, we need sparkles. And Fizz. It's really hard to find references for an article like that, but I'm trying - and it makes interesting reading, while I'm at it. RandyWang (chat me up/fix me up) 11:04, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Yet more thanks! You might have given me a barnstar, but it's you who is the REAL star!! Thanks so much, it was truly a proud milestone in my life :-) I hope your self-imposed absence has come to an end; sure missed ya. As you can see if you go having a look, I've been busy: managed to create some sort of user page with archives and everything... blimey! I'd also really appreciate it if you could have a look at Ian Anderson (musician). This is the first page I've really tried to move on significantly; not only does it need a good proof-read now, but I'd value your thoughts on what I've done to it compared to how it was before. I'm sure you can improve it. Looking fwd to hearing how things are going for you now. MoltonStPilgrim 09:33, 18 August 2006 (UTC) Ballia(also on my talk page) It's greatly improved, yes. Good job! The next step in improving its style would be to reduce the number of short paragraphs - I think the "op-ed" style chops things up too much. Even with the existing text, just running some paras together would work. I came across this in passing when verifying the EB1911 articles under Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/1911 verification; I have no expertise in the topic. David Brooks 22:29, 18 August 2006 (UTC) Re: Ian AndersonAh, thanks chuck, you're a brick :-) Oh no, I've come over all adorational - cuts across all my journalistic instincts. Now you know what kind of dreadfully out of date music I listen to. What about yourself? Anyhoo, I look forward to you returning my copy to the straight and narrow. Mucho grateful-o, whenever you're able to get to it. I've also begun mucking about with my user page, trying to copy those natty coloured boxes everyone seems to have. I'm trying to master the art of background colours, and getting nowhere - which is why I'm copying your colour at the mo! Consider it the sincerest form of admiration! MoltonStPilgrim 14:45, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
Hope you okThe note at the top of your user page sounds ominous... hope all is OK with you. Go well. MoltonStPilgrim 10:08, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the welcome :)Hey, just wanted to say thanks for the welcome to Esperanza. You might have noticed, my talk page is a little bereft of entries, so when the notice that I had a msg popped up, I got all excited, and it was a nice welcome note. So thanks :) Mnemeson 00:17, 24 August 2006 (UTC) My RfAHeya, thanks for the message on my talk page - it was really nice of you. :) Honestly, I think I'm doing just fine: I'm pretty stressed at the moment, but that's largely to do with events in real life, and nothing much to worry about. Thanks also for your support, even if it was a weak one. I'm pretty certain my RfA isn't going to succeed (I'm currently sitting at less than 2/3 support), but that doesn't bother me as much as it might have - at least now I know about my crappy NPP habit. Anyway, hope life is going well for you, too - how're things out there in the real world? Is uni being evil unto you? RandyWang (chat/patch) 08:55, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
Woah! Sorry, I didn't see your message on my talk page until just now -- my bad! If you like, you can withdraw your userpage, but I honestly think you have a chance of winning. :) Otherwise, just remove it from the page, since it isn't binding or anything. Maybe sometime in the future, ey? RandyWang (chat/patch) 09:47, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

Cheers -- Moondigger 14:09, 27 August 2006 (UTC) Re:Younger WikipediansI'm hoping that some sort of a mentorship program is possible, but it appears that we may be in a sort of legal dilemma: in the United States, it's illegal for children under 13 to communicate with other people on the Internet without their parents' consent. Unfortunately, it's impossible for us to figure out exactly who is under 13; it's easy to lie about one's age. Our sign up process at the moment doesn't even have a slot for "date of birth", so that's an issue first and foremost. If it did and we denied users that are under 13, people would just change their date of birth to reflect an age of 14 or older. I think the Wikimedia Foundation is trying to come up with a solution. I'm planning on being the very first to volunteer as a mentor if the solution involves mentorship, and I'll let you know right away, too. =) Thanks for your message on my talk page and your interest; I'll keep you updated!! Little boxes, little boxesHey there Riana, how's it going? I wondered if you've got out from under the welter of studying that you've had to do enough to give me some hints on how to do boxes and stuff? No worries if you're still busy :-) MoltonStPilgrim 09:21, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
A pleasure to make your acquaintanceThanks so much for the kind welcome to ESP, I look forward to helping make the Wikipedia 'more approachable' through our group effort. Is there an archive of past Esperanza newsletters? I'd like to catch up with what I've missed. Thanks, and nice meeting you. User:Pedant 19:23, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
Who and what is the AMA?The AMA is in some ways a lot like Esperanza, we try to make the wikipedia flow and defuse disputes, we are a small friendly group that wants to make the wikipedia easier for everyone to enjoy. We talk to people. Particularly, we give advice to people who ask for it, we give advice to people who don't ask for it, we help people express their opinion when they are too frustrated with a discussion to deal with it etc. We help them figure out what the policy is that applies to their problem. We try to make problems go away as simply as possible without harming the wikipedia. We help people navigate through the formal dispute resolution process, if everything else doesn't work. We try to avoid escalation, to save the community resources for better things. Wikipedia:Guide to Advocacy (for people wanting to get help) and Wikipedia:AMA Handbook (for people wanting to offer help)... both give some detailed insight into our goals, techniques and guidelines. (we are still writing them) In some ways we are a new group, but we've been here a while. We're real informal, and trying to "build informality in as a formal part of our official policies", to prevent the group from becoming too bureaucratic, and give us some wide leeway on how we solve problems. Most of us try to solve problems wherever they are, rather than wait to be asked. this is our meeting page, currently we are in a meeting, discussing the new version we've become, you can look there to see how we are 'backstage'... the meeting's gone on for over a week, we are electing a new coordinator, probably the one we didn't elect, that volunteered, cause he's worked really hard in his interim position and made some templates and stuff that have drawn us closer together, and organised our request help page and we are rewriting our pages to formalise the informality a bit, so people can get who we are and what we do, etc... Look around and if you have any questions, I'll be real happy to answer them. We're really in flux right now, so if you see something that doesn't look right let us know and we'll fix it. You'd be welcome to join if you think it suits you. User:Pedant 15:10, 1 September 2006 (UTC) We'll be hereWe'll be here when you get back, thanks for your interest. JPD (talk) 16:03, 5 September 2006 (UTC) Yenta ClausRiana, Just a request to reconsider. The article was edited numerous times and all objections were addressed. Web sources were added to the article and linked. I admit there is not a lot of info on the web, to me that seems a very good reason to keep it I think, but there are sites which are unrelated to each other and in diverse areas referencing the Yenta Claus character that appear to confirm it independent of me. There is the emergence of Jewish Holiday Mythical Characters and one of them is Yenta Claus. The new info includes a play written by a Pace University Professor where Yenta Claus is Santa's wife! [1] Please reconsider --Bhires 17:02, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
User page award (again!)Heya! :) Just thought you might like to know that a new round of the Esperanza userpage award is starting soon, and I wondered if you'd like to give it a try. I still think your userpage is pretty nice to look at. Could do with some sparkles, though... As for me, rather than entering again (I was a finalist, but came second-last ^^; ) I thought I'd give judging a go. Whee! --Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 02:57, 9 September 2006 (UTC) I removed your nom as judges aren't allowed to nominate. Sorry. However, feel free to nominate yourself. Jorcoga 00:04, 10 September 2006 (UTC) Thank You!I saw what appears to be your handy work in "Wikifying" Yenta Claus. I'll start work on adding citations where indicated. It was good of you to give it your time and thus give Yenta Claus a chance. --Bhires 04:52, 12 September 2006 (UTC) ThanksThanks for the compliment about my user page. I really like yours too. Your substitute for useboxes is very clever (wish I'd thought of it!). I notice that you are also nominated for the userpage award, so I guess our pages are in competition :-) Bláthnaid 18:08, 12 September 2006 (UTC) SOSRiana, please help me. I am getting frustrated and you seem like a reasonable person. FreplySpang is making my life here unpleasant. I left a her/him two detailed notes on his/her user page trying to explain what I believe is a misunderstanding about me. She left me a note on my user page that is way out of line. I was not aware of the noose I stuck my head in when I posted a mini and version of Yenta Clause on the 5th and was taken quite by surprise at the response. Once I got the "picture" I simply tried to escape with my then tiny piece but was apprehended and placed back in the mix. While I still think Wiki is a great project, I am not at all sure I want to participate in the process. However, I care way too much about the subject to abandon it and allow the "Langoliers" of time, of Steven King fame, to devour and possibly destroy it. So, am I wrong about her threats to follow me around and delete referances to Yenta Claus where ever she finds them? I wonder, is it dossible for me and my work to escape this? I still think the subject is valid for wiki and depending on whose philosophy and interpetations of notability you follow, is at least marginally acceptable and likely to be more so once the season is upon us and references, usually only seasonal, and I might add the greeting card was off line from Feburary and at least through May or June of this year, the last time I looked for it and since is going up now with other holiday stuff and info as we near Toy Time, my favorite time of year. So, what should I do? Is a Rc Patroler allowed to say civil isn't nice and insult me by coping an attitude? I am going to work now but will check in later. Oh and thanks for your help and I hope not to be a problem here but I do feel trapped, as I was well intentioned when I started the article and even tried to escape early when I saw I was no match for the "process" and was kept here with Yenta Claus. I read about the deletion process and really don't want her deleted as to what I understand, she would remain here in a secure nonpublic area under the control of some somewhat aggresssive editors who I fear probably dislike it, me and have a misunderstanding as I probably offend a few due to my then complete ignorance of the working of the site. So, if Yenta gets booted can she and I go away as if I never had the spontaneous urge to contribute late one evening last week? Please advise. Thanks, and sorry.--Bhires 16:40, 13 September 2006 (UTC) Woah! Barnstar!Hey, thanks so much for the shiny new barnstar! ^_^ Aww... I wasn't expecting two of them so close to each other. Now where are my sparkles, damnit! Now, having thanked you for that, I should... ah... go play video games. And by that, I mean study maths. Violent maths. :) Thanks again, awesome person! Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 08:50, 14 September 2006 (UTC) My RFAThank you, Riana dzasta, for voting on my RFA, which passed 95 to 1. Now that I have the mop, I hope I can live up to the standard, and be a good administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. — Thank youThanks for your support and best wishes with your studies. I am taking a break from Yenta Claus. Maybe if I am not the author of any changes, the RCPs will give it a rest. I don't know what wiki will do with the piece, but I think it should stay up through December. It has at least the references that many editors' articles in progress have and are allowed to be yet up for all to read and contribute to. I am certain there would be no harm in keeping it up awhile to give it a chance in the hands of other contributers and editors as the Holidays approach. Later, and thanks again. --Cuddles 15:57, 15 September 2006 (UTC) – The preceding unsigned comment was left by User:Bhires. SignatureExcuse me, how did you change your signature like that? Thanks...for the prompt welcome. Actually, I suspect that quite a few Esperanzians know my name by now, as I sparked off a major row a while back on the Esperanza talk page. That led to me getting the hell of out of Dodge and one other contributor leaving EA. Anyway, I thought that by joining I might be better placed to try to fix one or two minor problems I think that EA has, hence the demonic-sounding edit summary.
