Galloway

And if you protect the section you should do the right thing and take out the libelous content until the matter is ressolved as G Galloway is a living person. Do not protect the page with the disputed content in, the safest thing to do is protect it, without the "slander" --HalaTruth(ሐላቃህ) 09:30, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Please remove the disputed content until a resolution has been gained. If this content is allowed Galloway is within his rights to bring charges against wikipedia. it is now a legal matter and you should take the matter seriously. It is very worrying when a page is locked out with the full slander that 4 editors have objected against to the 2 editors that put it there.--HalaTruth(ሐላቃህ) 10:52, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
The version to restore is the safest one, it is better to be careful as no one will sue you for that, than to have full blown rumors and NPOV from minority interest to smear politicians who speak out. Revision as of 02:53, 22 February 2007 (edit). A quick look around wiki show the same large content being added by the same people to every and anyone who is critical of there interest, it is very incorrect. and not just a little content but on and on without care for balance. all over wiki this is the hottest debate. be brave and look around.--HalaTruth(ሐላቃህ) 11:06, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Thank Q

thank q for your honesty, wiki has to many conflict of interest admins. So i am happy to see you can weigh the situation.--HalaTruth(ሐላቃህ) 11:10, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Can I add my thanks for fixing things so quickly. Following this episode do you think Wikipedia:Protection policy needs revising? e.g. it says "During an edit war, do not ask for a page to be protected on a specific version or, if it has already been protected, reverted to some version other than the current one.", which in the case of potential libel seems wrong. Also removing possible libel is not a permitted case in WP:FULL#Editing_protected_pages. I suspect this incident could be the basis for improving policy. Rwendland 12:09, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
That's a very good point, worth bringing up on the talkpage. I'll do so now. – riana_dzasta 12:11, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Protected template lost

Hi again. Just noticed the "protected" template use in George Galloway got lost when you reverted (before deleting the section). It need to go in again. Rwendland 15:39, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Riana,
thanks for blocking IP-vandal 58.160.187.3. -- Túrelio 11:59, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

No worries - I think it's the same person, too, so I did a longer block. Let's see if he returns. – riana_dzasta 12:00, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Super late but still excited congratulations

This way, you can just spread all the congratulating out! (That was totally the intention.. :) Well done on your adminship; that's very exciting! -- Natalya 12:14, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Just so you know

I archived your talk page for you (see the archive if you've missed anything). Shout at me if I shouldn't have. Will (Speak to Me/Breathe)(Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash) 14:19, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Also, I've fixed the bug where the archive box went behind the talk page contents. If it looks strange, tell me. Will (Speak to Me/Breathe)(Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash) 19:16, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
It looks strange, now the archive box overlaps the table of contents. --Kyoko 21:14, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
I know. Should it be TOCLEFT, now that's done? Or should we get Ayelie in to fix it? Will (Speak to Me/Breathe)(Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash) 21:23, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
How does it look now? Will (Speak to Me/Breathe)(Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash) 21:40, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
It kind of looks meh, IMO. The whole left thing is odd, however was worse before due to the archive box. May I make a suggestion? I think that you should remove that archive box completely and just link it at the top with the other guidelines. ~ Arjun 02:44, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

To The Born Catastrophist

No worries, sometimes things can seem a little "too" perfect, and in those instances it's always nice for somebody to point out a small flaw just to remind ourselves that we're still in reality. Congratulations and good luck with your new buttons. Just Heditor review 17:50, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Yo whoa hey now

I'm embarrassed to admit I didn't see your RfA ... I usually pop in there once or twice a week, but I guess I took too long and missed a chance to throw my support behind your candidacy. Is this users actions allowed?

  • Hey there (:O) ... we have an ongoing debate over here on the status of an article. Now the thing I wanted to bring up was the editing and removal and well forceful rhetoric stating the result of the debate before it has even been decided. The one causing all this is User:Ideogram. I have tried so hard to be loving and understanding during this debate, but now I dont know if what the user is doing is right or wrong. I dont know who to go to, so I figure I may ask someone who is very familiar with the wikipedia world and how this should be dealt with maybe? Not sure. Please help. Article deletion

In addition to deleting the (former) page "Anish", you might want to also (look into) deleting the following images related to it: Image:Anish.jpg, Image:50 paisa.JPG, Image:RETANGLES.JPG, Image:RETANGLES1.JPG, and Image:Anish.JPG.jpg. The user who created these images/pages might be inactive now, but someone might need to watch the account in the future. (Just in case?) Anyway, Thanks! --EscapingLife 16:20, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for reminding me about those. They're orphaned and have no source info, so they'll most likely be deleted soon anyway. – riana_dzasta 05:55, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
Well, Image:Anish.jpg is different now, and it's being used on a user page. The other images still haven't been deleted though... --EscapingLife 23:25, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
Patience, my love! :p To be honest, I'm reluctant to touch images as I have very little experience with them, but feel free to list them at IFD. – riana_dzasta 04:08, 25 February 2007 (UTC) <edit> I see you listed them for IFD but didn't list them on the actual page - don't worry, the bot's done it for ya :) All fixed, then. – riana_dzasta 04:28, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
Well then, I'll just wait. Thanks! --EscapingLife 02:31, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Portal:Science/News

Hi Ms. Sysoppiness!

Congrats on your recent promotion! :-) I'm writing to ask for your help. I'm winding down my wiki-involvement and I am looking for someone to maintain Portal:Science/News. Would you be willing to do that and/or recruit a few others to help out? What I've done in the past is just go to the "Read more..." link at Portal:Current events/Science and technology and include whatever items show up there. Because my talk page in on a wikibreak, please reply to this request here. Thanks. Rfrisbie 16:01, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Certainly, but it's a real shame that you're winding things up here - you'd be sorely missed. I hope this is only temporary. – riana_dzasta 04:02, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. I'm not cutting all ties, but I am adjusting my priorities. :-) Rfrisbie 14:24, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi, the "news" here is over a month old. Are you sure this is something you want to maintain? People are starting to vandalize it to point out it is out-of-date. Please reply here. Rfrisbie 18:21, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, I was busy with other things :( Updated now, I'm changed the format a little to match the current events portal to allow for multiple news items occurring on the same day. – riana_dzasta 00:09, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. Rfrisbie 01:02, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

My RfA

Question

I have no desire to wheel war and I'm not going to unblock, but why did you block 151.188.0.230 for 48 hours when his/her last edit was over 24 hours ago? Blocks should be preventative not punative. IrishGuy talk 06:07, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

I don't think there's anything we can do except keep reverting the guy. Even if I knew how to do range blocks, they result in too much collateral damage. Sorry he vandalised your userpage, though :( – riana_dzasta 03:06, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Middle schools in Middletown, IN...

...are certainly producing America's future leaders, aren't they :) It could cetainly use sprotect (I'd do it myself, but to the outside it could appear to some that I am just doing so to gain an upperhand in an edit war or something), but I would recommend using the longer term little lock thingie in the corner sprotect, since he seems determined to use up his formative years vandalizing the article instead of extracurricular activities, making friends, shooting rats at the city dump, chasing girls, and all of the other things that kids in the Midwest would normally do. Cheers. youngamerican (ahoy hoy) 13:08, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Also, would you mind quickly vetting the record of User:MJCdetroit? I think that he will make an excellent sysop, but I know that you are much more in tune with what people are wanting in an RfA these days. youngamerican (ahoy hoy) 14:08, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
Both articles semi-d. As for MJCdetroit... if he loses the tea-bagging userbox, we'll talk ;) Seems to have a good record, but I haven't got time to give him more than a once-over right now. Maybe in a few hours time. – riana_dzasta 22:20, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. Also, no rush on checking out MJC's record. I'm gonna wait to nom him until after this current glut of 8238947 RfAs. youngamerican (ahoy hoy) 12:51, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

You're welcome. A totally off-the topic question: I've only ever heard of the name "Riana" once before, on an Australian teen-TV series that was carried on Disney channel in the US. I even considered naming a daughter that, as my wife and I thought it was really pretty...baby turned out to be a boy. Is it really that unique, or is it just me? Akradecki 01:54, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Hmmm, I'm not sure! My mother once told me that a baby lion had been born in the Brisbane Zoo a month before I was born, and they named it Riana, and she thought it was really pretty. She told me many years later that it was actually a baby gorilla :( I think it means 'sunshine' in one of the Australian Aboriginal languages. – riana_dzasta 01:57, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for doing it so quickly, and also for being so nice about pointing out my mistake that the Cam Janssen article was already semi-protected when I failed to realize this. Although this is a little belated, congratulations in achieving adminship. I am thinking of running for adminship soon myself, and wanted your advice. My last RfA (last November) failed because I had less than 500 edits and not enough experience of policy, but since then I've chalked up over 3,000 edits, participated regularly in XfDs, been an active RC patroller and vandal-fighter, and contributed significantly to many articles (especially Politics). No, honestly, I still can't comprehend it. It may take me a while to make use of the tools, but I see you are doing very well, so I may be accosting you for a second opinion at a moment's notice! Look forward to seeing you at AIV any time soon. Thanks again, R. :) Bubba hotep 22:20, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
