NOTE

I have been without my home internet connection for nearly a month now. I'll check from work every now and then, but it's not something I can do too frequently. If you leave a message there may be a long delay before I reply. Rhion 09:07, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Welsh dynasties

Hello once again, Rhion! I have a question to pose to you that might be within the realm of your specialisations in Welsh history. I am attempting to locate a (good) text, or at least a decent journal article, that provides details concerning the Welsh ruling dynasties subsequent to the, ah... 'forced integration' of the Welsh principalities with England. Everything I possess here or am able to access ends each dynastic line around the 13th century C.E.. None of my sources provide any hint as to what happened to the various ruling families after they lost political power.

Do you know of any source text that would allow me to research this topic in the area described above? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sources in Welsh or English will work for me. I understand that you have limited access to the Internet at this time, so if it takes a few months to respond, no problem. :)

[edit] Indonesia Collaboration

Hello there Rhion. For the next two weeks we have chosen >>>Indonesian War of Independence<<< for the Indonesia Collab. Also, please vote for the next fortnight. Maybe we should chose a stub article. So far, we have had already longish articles and they are therfore hard to expand. Here's a list of Indonesian underdeveloped articles: [1]. Please let me know if you have any suggestions (or if you do not want me to message you about the collabs). kind regards --Merbabu 12:51, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nant Gwynant

Your picture of Nant Gwynant is absolutly inspiring! I am thinking on making it a screen saver! Drachenfyre 22:57, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Slate in Wales

Over at the Graphics Lab we're trying to re-do your map, this time in the SVG format. However, in order to make it higher resolution, we'd like to have the source you used. Could you let us know? Thanks! (here's the relevant link) --Zantastik talk 19:35, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Your response was quite timely, as a matter of fact! Thanks:) --Zantastik talk 23:34, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Change to Common.css

Per recent discussions, the way in which Persondata is viewed by Wikipedia editors has changed. In order to continue viewing Persondata in Wikipedia articles, please edit your user CSS file to display table.persondata rather than table.metadata. More specific instructions can be found on the Persondata page. --ShakingSpirittalk on behalf of Kaldari 01:45, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

Hey, I see you are a participant of Wikiproject Rugby Union. A template has been created {{WPRU Announcements}} for the project. It's function is to allow users to better communicate and co-ordinate tasks. Please consider placing it on your user page. Thanks. - Shudda talk 11:07, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Brut y Mathrafalion

Hello again! if you have time, can you tell me if this is the correct translation for "Chronical of the House (or dynasty?) of Mathrafal?" Or should it be Mathrafali? Thanx!Drachenfyre 17:52, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Also, might you help me find the origional meanings of the place-names of Mathrafal, Aberffraw (Estuary of the river Ffraw, but what does Ffraw mean?) and Dinefwr? Drachenfyre 11:13, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] ap/map

Further question with this...

Your reponse was

"Ap" dates at least as far back as the 12th century. Previously, "vab" ("fab" in modern orthograohy) would have been used. "Map" is a very old form, and there would certainly be no justification for using "Llywelyn map Gruffydd" for example.Rhion 12:29, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

So, in the 11th cenury, say 1066, it would be correct to list Bleddyn fap Cynfyn, but by 1170 it would be more correct to use ap? When would map have officially ended? There is a source someone is quoting from that lists Welsh genologies in the 12th cenury using map. I am uncertin how to correctly interperate them.

http://www.maryjones.us/ctexts/jesus20gen.html

http://www.maryjones.us/ctexts/genealogies.html

http://www.maryjones.us/ctexts/bonedd.html

To give you context, the discussion I am having with someone is on moding a game using Welsh verbage, the forum is http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=275150&page=2&pp=25 He is claiming that, for the context in time we are discussing, map/merch would be more correct in the naming conventions we are using, but for me that seems far more archaic and the use of ap would be more appropriate.

Thanx again for any comments you may be able to offer. Drachenfyre 17:34, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Welsh Law

Hello!

In the artical for Welsh law, I was wondering if it would not also be appropriate to give the Welsh name for the office, such as captain of the guard, falconer, ect. Are they listed in your source? Drachenfyre 13:39, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] re. your goodbye

Rhion, you will be a tremendous loss to Wikipedia. I understand entirely, of course, and I get equally frustrated by exactly the same things, and have periods of stepping back from it. But I hope you'll be back some day. Cofion gorau, a diolch am bob dim wyt ti wedi ei wneud. Brysia'n ôl. Hogyn Lleol 14:50, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

What can I say, except to echo Hogyn Lleol? But of all the straws to break your back, someone who can't even read to the end of the paragraph? Still, I suppose that's the point of final straws: they don't have to be big. I am tempted to say "stay", but I know from experience there is no point staying in a project on the net when the fun has gone from it. I must admit that I take Wikipedia far less seriously than I used to, because if I took it too seriously I'd be off, too. If the fun comes back, I hope you will too. Telsa (talk) 16:07, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
I too am very sorry to see you go. I have watched your contributions regularly since I joined. You have inspired me to persevere in my own small way. In life I try to remind myself not let the b......s grind me down, otherwise they win, but I know that's much easier typed than done. Cofion gorau o fi hefyd, a gobeithio dewch yn ôl cyn hir, os medrwch. Ynysgrif 04:02, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
Well I never thought Rhion would be gone? Though I left Wikipedia once, Rhion might one day return like I did. Amlder20 00:38, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
I assume you're sticking with the "other place" (won't say where it is, in case the fandals follow you). Deb 12:47, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
I too wish to express my belated goodbyes. Though we only worked together briefly on the Battle of Bedriacum, I still fondly remember our collaboration (which was 80% your fine work) as it gave me another fleeting glimpse into the way Wikipedia ought to be. Most days, such as today, I too wonder why the hell I still bother to logon to a site which has pretty much become the Infobahn's largest truckstop restroom wall. Therefore I won't ask you to return, since I'm not sure I'll still be here when you do. But I do sincerely wish you all the best in future.--R.D.H. (Ghost In The Machine) 16:47, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
And here's my even more belated goodbye. Like the others, I just wanted to express that you will be missed, and I hope you come back some day.--Cúchullain t/c 07:02, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
One more (much later) voice to add—I didn't associate with you terribly much, but come back if you can ever find an interest in helping out in Wikipedia again. In the meantime, I thought I'd mention that I'm probably going to be living in an immersive Welsh environment this Spring, and I'm pretty excited. The Jade Knight 07:34, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Indonesia collaboration

New collaboration...

Hello everybody. I’ve updated the current Indonesia collaboration to > > > Central Java < < <

This article’s not in a very good condition but such a significant part of Indonesia, the cultural heart of the Javanese. Please contribute! Thanks to all those contributed to the previous collaboration Sidoarjo mud flow particularly Indon.

The next collaboration...

For the next collaboration in a fortnight, I’d like to try something different. Let’s chose a stub rather than an already well-developed article. Here is a list of Indonesian stubs to choose (there’s two pages). Please check the article's importance rating – let's chose an important and significant article that will appeal to a broad range of people. Please do not choose an obscure and/or esoteric topic that is not very important. Please place your nomination here.

Any questions, please let me know. Kind regards --Merbabu 05:02, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
