Nice edits on that article. So do you like the song? :) Mushintalk 16:12, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] JMSDF
Please indicate why you don't think it will be a blue-water navy in the future on the talk page. I have read plenty of reports that indicate it's going that way. Do you think the new DDH is just for fun? John Smith's 14:14, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Indian navy
Made changes in the blue water navy discussion section. Check it out.
[edit] INS Viraat
Describing Viraat as "old and unreliable" strikes me as both POV and probably less-than-factual in any case. On the other hand, describing her as "modernised and refurbished" is also an opinion and POV. Therefore, I think it would be more appropriate to term it a "2nd generation aircraft carrier," rather how FS De Gaulle or the Italian carrier (although she is older than those) is decribed. None of those units are possibly a match for Stennis or Truman and they dont claim to be, but they are powerful units in thier own right. Also, to be honest, you don't need a Stennis or Truman or even a De Gaulle to maintain air superority over Pakistan or Bangledesh , which is the primary function of Viraat Cheers V. My original text was to note it as having been out of service for repairs, giving exact amount of time comissioned and amount of time under repair, and letting the reader form their own conclusion. Our Indian friend refused ot let that stand, saying it was too wordy. Since that level of detail is precise and neutral (no one has yet claimed it was pov), I7ll put it back that way. [edit] FN Charles de Gaulle
Please help me with a WIKI arbitration on the India-Pakistan section of FN CHarles de Gaulle. There is a user who keep on reverting to claims that are (in my opinion) not WIKI rules. Please arbitrate. I do not know how to call for an arbitration. Thanks. 217.136.68.138 23:33, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, I'm taking a break from anything to do with wet navies, and especially disputes, at least until after Guy Fawkes Night. Rhialto 23:59, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

- (If you wish) There is a Straw Poll in the discussion page of the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier, can you kindly participate and if you have other persons who can provide an unbiased opinion that can help. Thanks a lot. Natobxl

[edit] Humour
Hi there; I am sorry, I had no wish to offend you or anyone else. As the edit log shows, I did wait six minutes before adding the tag. May I respectfully suggest that, if you are creating an article which may involve some pauses for thought, you insert at the top of the page the template {{underconstruction}}? This will indicate that you are still working; I am sure you are aware that a lot of less serious editors do create articles of only a few words with no intention of adding to them. Happy wikying.--Anthony.bradbury 21:04, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Specification of Units
Only units named after an individual such as Newton, Pascal, Amp, Volt etc are capitalized. All others are lowercase. 23:47, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] another bot error
Over on Conversion of units, the bot converted cental (a unit name) to central, which isn't the same thing at all. Rhialto 03:29, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks Rhialto, I'll make a note of it so it doesn't happen again. Cheers, Cmdrjameson 09:29, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] light-year
Hello. In the process of adding a foreign language link to the light-year page, your bot seems to have randomized the alphabetical order of the foreign language links. Rhialto 14:19, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- No, I'm afraid it's you who randomized it by your changes. My bot put the links in a strictly alphabetical order... Have a look at the page now please .Benoni 00:04, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
The current version looks sorted because I edited it. Here's some of teh source from your bot's last version...
ang:Lēohtgēar ar:سنة ضوئية ast:Añu lluz bn:আলোক বর্ষ zh-min-nan:Kng-nî be:Сьветлавы год
I fail to see how zh fits between bn and be in alphabetical sorting order.
Rhialto 05:17, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
- No, it was sorted before you edited it. Now it is not sorted anymore!Benoni 15:37, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
- zh-min-nan:Kng-nî is for Ban-lam-gu... It is not the code which is important but the name of the language.Benoni 15:40, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
- Seeing as how the name of the languages are written in a multitude of different scripts, it makes no sense to sort by that data field. Russian/Chinese/Arabic/Thai characters cannot be meaningfully be sorted amongst English letters. [[1]] suggests that sorting by the 2-letter code is a perfectly valid approach. Rhialto 16:17, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
- Well, but you should read it entirely:
"There are numerous way to sort the interlanguage links. The preference is for sorting according to either the two-letter language abbreviation or the name of each language in that language. The vast majority of articles are currently sorted the second way: by order of alphabet, based on local language, as described at m:Interwiki sorting order, so new articles should be sorted in that way." And all the bots on this wikipedia (and in the other languages as well) are programmed to sort that way. So the next bot going on this page will sort it again the way my bot did...Benoni 23:54, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
fine then. ill leave sorting to the bots, since they are obviously more intelligent than me Rhialto 07:04, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Malta related article at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/St John's Square
Dear member of WikiProject Malta, I'd like to invite you to participate in an ongoing Article for Deletion debate about St John's Square in the capital of Malta. We'd like your input about whether the article should stay and go (and if you want to expand the stub, that would be great too!) All the best, Eliz81(talk)(contribs) 21:21, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
