Talk:Rhine-Ruhr
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Refered to in Dutch as the Ruhr Pot. Was surprised not to see Roermond included.
RE: Citation needed for # of inhabitants: I could only find a german online source for that (http://www.deutsche-metropolregionen.org/_material/IKM-Monitoring18-10-06.pdf). This is from Network Of Germany Metroplitan Regions and seems trustworthy. The latest numbers are from 2004, put the region at 11.5 Mio. inhabitants and refer to the European Metropolitan Region Rhine-Ruhr as defined by the Conference of education ministers (KMK) in Germany which seems to be the only official definition of the area. Also the source at the end of the article, refering to the megacities project at the university of Cologne, is misleading since the area is not considered a megacity, only the northern part (Rhine-Ruhr North, Ruhrgebiet) is listed at the megacities site.
RE: Roermond: Most sources seem to limit the area to german cities, I've found some sites mentioning Venlo as belonging to a larger Rhine-Ruhr Area (whatever that may be).
I'm a noob here, so my question is how to proceed? --HolyLAN 13:10, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
http://www.deutsche-metropolregionen.org doesn't use the official borders but includes Kreise as a whole to have more comparable data. That means 11.5 Mio. inhabitants is wrong. --88.76.212.180 22:20, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
