Rhicert ap Cadwaladr ap Gruffydd

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rhicert ap Cadwaladr (c.1150-c.1220) or Richard ap Cadwaladr was the younger son of Cadwaladr ap Gruffydd the brother of Owain Gwynedd the king of Gwynedd and overlord of all Wales. He was probably born in Ceredigion where his father held extensive estates. After his father was banished from Wales he probably spent the rest of his life in exile in England. It is recorded that he married twice, firstly to Gwerful verch Gwrgeneu, and afterwards to Annes verch Gwyn. It is not yet known for certain if his son Maredudd ap Rhicert had any children but it is said that some people with the surnames "Waley" and "Walsh" are descendants of him and his brother Ralph.
