[edit] Early life

She was born into a working-class Roman Catholic family in Rhondda Cynon Taff, Mid Glamorgan, South Wales. Her father was Glyn Thomas, a Welshman who worked in a local factory, her mother Dolores Marquez was born in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico and was the child of a Spanish-Mexican father and a Mayan mother. However she was orphaned from an early age and was adopted in Wales. Rhiannon was baptized at St Mary's R.C Church at three weeks old and took her first Holy Communion there.

By the age of seven, she was fluent in both Welsh and English, and began learning Spanish. She can also speak Latin and French.[citation needed]

[edit] Rise to fame

She appeared in many Welsh-language programmes such as Uned 5 and Wedi 7 and also had a brief stint on the Welsh soap Pobol Y Cwm. She completed a Grade 8 Royal School of Music certificate and can play the piano up to the same grade.[citation needed] She acquired a passport to Mexico at 19[citation needed] and starred in a Mexican soap opera Destilando Amor. At 21 she became a U.S. citizen[citation needed] and now is working on an album that will have both Celtic and Latin influences. She also plans to sing in both Welsh and English.
