The Rheinbahn is a public transport provider operating in and around Düsseldorf. Its network consists of 7 Stadtbahn (light rail) lines as well as 13 tram(partially underground) and 92 bus services. The total rail connection is 342 km. In 2004, it transported 690,000 passengers per day.
Two Stadtbahn lines are former regional rail lines and connect to the cities of Duisburg (D-Bahn, U79) and Krefeld over Meerbusch (K-Bahn, U76).
The neighbouring city of Neuss is connected to the Rheinbahn network by one Stadtbahn (U75) and two tramway lines (704, 709). The neighbouring city of Ratingen is connected by one tram line (712).
Its bus line covers Düsseldorf, Meerbusch and the most parts of Kreis Mettmann.
The Rheinbahn is member of the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr, the public transport association covering the area of the Rhine-Ruhr megalopolis.
