'RG Veda' redirects to 'Rig Veda'. What would be the best way to deal with that - removing the redirect, or a disambiguation page? Kujie 22:41, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

How come Ashura is called a girl in the anime and he in this article? This question is not about gender-neutral pronouns. It's about character and the stylistics of how Ashura is depicted in CLAMP's work. Nor is the question about "contention" about which pronoun to use. Choosing a gender-revealing personal pronoun in mandatory in English when discussing human beings in polite or formal discourse, and the choice carries implications (which I can discuss another time) -- and that is what I want to know about. What is intended or meant by calling Ahura he?

I read somewhere -- I forgotten where, so I'm asking -- that CLAMP's RG Veda was based on Japanese folklore versions of the story. Any references to that, anyone?

"RG Veda" is loosely based on the Rig Veda - in the sense that CLAMP arbitrarily chose names and a few relationships, according to the interview in "CLAMP no Kiseki". They mixed this with a healthy dose of Buddhist mythology and their own story, and got "RG Veda". As for Ashura, he is said to be sexless in volume 9/10 of the manga, when it becomes a plot point for him to be so so he can't procreate, which is Ashura-oh's punishment for defying destiny. Before he knows that, however, Ashura-oh calls Ashura his son - not his daughter, not simply his child. So it makes sense to use the male pronoun for him rather than the female, in the absence of a gender-neutral one. --KagamiNoMiko (talk) 10:22, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
