Reynaldo Elias Rapalo

Reynaldo Elias Rapalo was a serial rapist active in the Miami's Little Havana neighborhood. He was accused of raping up to 7 women and girls, ages 11 to 79 and attempting to attack 4 others. Also Was the topic of an A&E 2 hour documentary called Miami-Manhunt.

Reynaldo was arrested in 2003 after DNA evidence tied him to an attack of a woman hanging her laundry in the middle of the day.


On December 21, 2005, he escaped from the Miami-Dade County jail by crawling through a ceiling vent and then climbing down from the roof using tied-together bed sheets. After an extensive manhunt, he was taken into custody on December 26th, 2005, at about 10pm, outside a video store in southwest Miami.

The House is attempting to pass a bill known as CLEAR act, citing Rapalo as one of the reasons for making this act.

On December 27, 2005, Rapalo was back into custody after being arrested in south Miami.

On August 9, 2006, Rapalo was convicted of all charges in a 2003 attack on an 11-year-old girl who was raped after returning home from school. He is currently serving 5 life sentences and is appealing his convictions.
