The Sinagogue of Satan is a religous organization founded by Reverend Michael S. Margolin based on the Ancient and Accepted Rite of Free Masonry’s definition of Satanism as described in Albert Pike’s work Morals and Dogma.

The Sinagogue of Satan was established out of Mountain View, California on January 29, 1999 by Michael S. Margolin also known as the Mad Poet. The religion is known by many names for example "Margolinian Satanism", "Anarcho-Nihilism", "Satanic Anarchism", and most recently it is known as "Occult Satanism" coined by Michael Margolin himself. It is a valid and legal religion where members have the unalienable right to believe in whatever they like as long as they don’t push their beliefs on others. The Sinagogue of Satan is the all one church/religion as mentioned in the revelations of John, though the Sinagogue of Satan name comes from a short story in Aleister Crowley's book Konx om Pax called "Thien Tao; or, The Synagogue of Satan." Michael Margolin continues to be an inactive member of the Ordo Templi Orientis (O.T.O.) which Crowley had made famous, and the Sinagogue of Satan is influenced by them. They have the support of many groups/organizations such as the O.T.O., Argenteum Astrum (A:.A:.), Scott Rite Masons, Universal Life Church (U.L.C.M.), the Satanic Chapel, and many more. Ironically the Sinagogue of Satan affiliates with none of them, for they are autonomous, and show no loyalty to anyone but themselves. The Sinagogue of Satan makes no claims as being the "True Satanic Path" or any "True Way".

The Sinagogue of Satan does not have or desire tax-exempt status, though they are eligible. Even though the Sinagogue of Satan has no physical church, central temple or lodge their priests/priestesses and ambassadors often hold meetings and classes in their domains and/or online. Since the years of its existence the Sinagogue of Satan grew to well over 4,000 members world wide (despite much public opposition). The Sinagogue of Satan religion is based on 1+(-1)=0 it is Crowley's union of opposites. It is Nihilism. Most Satanism is dualist because most Satanism is really just an offshoot of Christianity, a dualistic theology. The Sinagogue of Satan's concepts are not confined within a single system. To understand this, the person must transcend the duality of "for" and "against," reaching for that point of unity which is beyond mere distinction. The Sinagogue of Satan are not trying to create a church of unity; they are merely supporting the rights of diversity and the individual to achieve freedom. Unity implies a code or system to maintain the peace. Cooperation between diverse realities is not unity but fraternity, but Freemasonry is not a religion it is a fraternal order and the Sinagogue of Satan is a religion and it is not a fraternal order therefore Michael Margolin has created a bona fide religion through Freemasonry. Never in the history of man has there ever been an organized religion set up in this manner. All of their predecessors have bound their members in some way or another. "The Word of Sin is Restriction." Therefore they do not demand their members to uphold any system or belief.

It should be noted that "Sinagogue" is an intentional misspelling of "synagogue," and the Sinagogue of Satan website explains this as: "We spell it Sinagogue because we wanted to capture the word sin, and didn't want a connection with previous terms, like church, circle, lodge, order, oasis, shrine, society, synagogue, temple etc. We wanted a new religious name for a new religion. Call it poetic license if you will."

In late September of 2006 DJ Son of Morning started to broadcast Sinagogue of Satan Radio out of Canada, an internet radio show every friday called "Morning at Night" where he talks and plays a diverse choice of music (specializing mainly in Metal music) that we all grew up enjoying. Listeners are encouraged to send in their music for play.

Although the Sinagogue of Satan are Satanic/Thelemic/Masonic in nature they accept all Beliefs, Styles, Races, Cultures, Ideologies, Nationalities, Sexuality's etc. etc. The religion contains no dogma in or of itself, and encourages its followers to believe in whatever they like, as long as they do not attempt to push such beliefs on others. The aim of this religion is the ultimate destruction of religions through the advancement of individual freedom and social responsibility. The philosophy/belief of the Sinagogue of Satan undermines all existing religions including their own. Thus the philosophy is based on a paradox. The Sinagogue of Satan does not promote self-indulgence, but rather self-expression balanced with social responsibility. It promotes freedom of religion, and encourages its members to be independent in their thinking. It advocates both freedom and individuality, balanced with social responsibility and activity. It also actively encourages its members to make use of their governments to spread the ideals of freedom and social advancement. Such a policy is referred to as "Tune in, Turn on, Take Over!" The Sinagogue of Satan aims to neuter God and dogma in any and all religions, including atheism, for even no belief is still a belief. The true name of Satan, the Kabalists say, is that of Yahveh reversed; for Satan is not a black God, but the negation of God. The Devil is the personification of Atheism or Idolatry. For the Initiates, this is not a person, but a force, created for good, but which may serve for evil. It is the instrument of Liberty or free will. They represent this Force, which presides over the physical generation, under the mythologic and horned form of the God Pan; thence the he-goat of the Sabbat, brother of the Ancient Serpent, and the light bearer or Phosphor, of which the poets have made the false Lucifer of the legend.

The Sinagogue of Satan do however have a Holy book titled Liber of the Goat, the book itself is not mandatory to accept, unless you apply for ambassador or priesthood status in the Sinagogue of Satan. It is merely offered to their members as an alternative holy book and is owned by the Sinagogue of Satan and no others. The Sinagogue of Satan were also given permission to use and alter O.T.O. rituals by the Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica (E.G.C.) within the O.T.O. The Sinagogue of Satan authorizes its ordained ministers to perform weddings, baptisms, and funerals. They may hold meetings and/or services. The church allows its ministers to perform other rites and sacraments to fulfill the needs of the congregation as well.

The Sinagogue of Satan believes that "all sacraments like cannabis sacrament is a fundamental human right and protected by the U.S. Constitution." The Constitution (written by Freemasons) is considered to be one of the Sinagogue of Satans creeds (or doctrine). Dedicated members state that they truly believe in freedom of religion. In other words, they want every member to be able to pursue their own beliefs without interference from the government, church agencies, or any other outside agency. One of their creeds, which also happens to be a quote of Jesus Christ is

“ Judge not, that ye not be judged. ”

The Sinagogue of Satan has ambassador and priesthood positions. These are reserved for members that accept the Sinagogue of Satan religion as well with their own personal belief system. Members of other beliefs are not allowed this privilege, for they can obtain such status through other groups. The Sinagogue of Satan does not offer, or claim to offer, any kind of "initiation."

The Sinagogue of Satan consists of five positions:

Applicants - The applicant is expected to understand the beliefs of the Sinagogue of Satan, be honest, and be patient in the application process.

Members - Understand and practice the lifestyle and philosophy of the Sinagogue of Satan, support the organization, and avoid proselytizing.

Priests and Priestesses - Guide others with the same love and devotion as one would expect from one's own mentors, live the lifestyle of the Sinagogue of Satan, and be a beacon of responsibility.

Ambassadors - Educate those who are interested in the Sinagogue of Satan, practice love and compassion.

Baphomet Rex 666 - The head of the Sinagogue of Satan: be the personification of the Sinagogue of Satan philosophy, mediate disagreements amongst other members, and avoid flowery speeches.

Sinagogue of Satan members may resign and terminate their affiliation at any time with no questions asked although they can never rejoin.
