Revolution By Night are an electronic music band based in London, UK. They are often referred to as 'RBN'. The only continuous members are Steve Weeks (vocals/keyboards/programming) and Bryon Adamson (keyboards/programming).

[edit] Revolution By Night Mk 1 - 1994 to 1999
The original Revolution By Night was a 4 piece (2 guitarists, a bassist, a vocalist, plus a drum machine) gothic rock band playing material heavily influenced by Fields of the Nephilim and The Sisters of Mercy. The early Revolution By Night recorded the full length album 'Breathe' in 1994, which was released the following year. Playing a completely different style of music to the "RBN" of today, pre-2000 Revolution By Night should be considered a different band. Whilst continuing to play a handfull of live dates during the remainder of the 1990s with a number of different guitarists, no further releases followed other than a few tracks on compilation albums, and the group split in 1999.
[edit] RBN (a.k.a. Revolution By Night Mk 2) - 2000 to Present
In November 1999 Steve Weeks began working on new synth-based material. With both Bryon Adamson and himself having previously unrealised ambitions in this area, they began to develop a new RBN following a full-blooded electronic approach. The first fruits of their labour surfaced at the following year’s Wave-Gotik-Treffen festival in Leipzig, where RBN played a synthesiser heavy set featuring the Weeks anthem 'Faithless'. The following year's support slot to Funker Vogt in London, further appearances at the Dark Jubilee and InFest festivals in 2002, saw the duo further establish their synth-pop credentials. By the end of that year the band, referring increasingly to themselves simply as RBN to distinguish them from the gothic stylings of "Revolution By Night", had expanded to a three-piece for live shows, enlisting the help of a succession of additional keyboard players.
In June 2003, the Faithless EP was released. Featuring remixes of the title track by Ronan Harris of VNV Nation and Tom Shear of Assemblage 23, the EP contained two other new songs, 'Schadenfreude' and 'Higher Ground (voxless)' and two reworked older songs. With the EP at #14 in the DAC (German Alternative Chart) and #3 in the Belgian Side-line chart, RBN took to the Agra Halle main stage at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen for the second time.
Other than appearances at Edinburgh’s Heart Of Darkness festival and Hannover’s Secret Garden festival in 2004, (the latter with The Crüxshadows, Mesh and Deine Lakaien), RBN spent most of the next two years writing and recording new material. Steve Weeks, through his Slimelight DJ sets, was able to test audience reactions with demo versions of RBN songs such as 'City Lights' and 'Machine Code’.
In 2006 the band had their busiest year to date, returning to the stage with a series of live dates. May’s support to Covenant and Pride & Fall on their Skyshaper UK tour was followed by shows at the Dark City Festival in Edinburgh and the Summer Darkness festival in Utrecht. The band finished the year’s live dates with a sell-out show supporting Rotersand at London's Slimelight club, where Steve has been a resident DJ since 1995.
2007 saw the band retreat to the studio to work on their album 'City Lights' due for release in 2008, with production duties by a scene producer to be confirmed soon. They also found the time to play a few shows in London, supporting Assemblage 23 in August, as well as Mesh and De/vision at the Electric Ballroom, Camden in November.
Late 2007 saw the bands remix of the Reaper track 'X-Junkie' released on Reaper's CD 'The Devil Is Female'. The CD reached number one in the German DAC chart in January 2008.
In February 2008, the band completed a remix for the German band Straftanz entitled "Straftanz UK (featuring RBN)" which is to be released at some point in 2008.
