The Revista Brasileira de Chímica (ISSN 0370-3711) was first published in 1929 by the (first) Sociedade Brasileira de Chímica. It was a Brazilian scientific journal in chemistry. The journal was published from vol. 1. (1929) to vol. 2, no. 7 (1931), until the name changed to:

  • Revista da Sociedade Brasileira de Química, vol. 2, no. 8 (1932) to vol. 20 (1951), (ISSN 0370-7180, CODEN RSBQAS).

Publication was suspended between December 1933 to January 1936 and ceased in 1951 due to incorporation of the (first) Sociedade Brasileira de Chímica to form the Associação Brasileira de Química.

With the founding of the (second) Sociedade Brasileira de Química, the publication of Química Nova in 1978 and the Journal of the Brazilian Chemical Society in 1990 started. The journal Química Nova is also subtitled as Revista da Sociedade Brasileira de Química, indicating its historical origin.

The Revista Brasileira de Chímica should not be confounded with Revista Brasileira de Química (São Paulo).
