Reverend Rueben Gregory

Reverend Rueben Gregory is a fictional character on the series, Amen, he was portrayed by Clifton Davis.

Reverend Rueben Gregory was introduced in the pilot episode of Amen, as the new Pastor at the First Hand Community Church of Philadelphia. Reverend Reuben Gregory had disliked Deacon Ernest Frye's daughter, Thelma, and Thelma had feelings for the Reverend, millions of times, and The Reverend occasionally (and secretly) likes Thelma. In One episode, Rueben was invited to a Dinner prepared at Thelma's home, and Thelma had secretly intoxicated wine, and the two had become lovers. However, the next day, Reverend Gregory admits that he was not romantically interested in her, it was the wine that had affected him, but during the series run, Thelma would do her best, to win her man.

In Another Episode, After taking advice from her father (Deacon Ernest Frye), Thelma says "I Do", as Reverend Gregory comes over, and wants him and Thelma to be just "friends", however, after Reverend Gregory leaves, Thelma becomes angry at her father, and moves out of their house, Thelma, with no place to go, decides to spend the night at Reverend Gregory's house, however, when Deacon Frye, Amelia and Casseitta and Rolly come over to the Reverend's House, and the four is all shocked to see that Thelma and Rueben slept together, however, all of them threatened to vote out the Reverend, if Thelma does not move out. Reverend Gregory tried to explain, but changes his mind, and says he does not care, and he could find some other jobs, but eventually, The Reverend keeps his job, and Thelma moves out and move back to live with her father.

In 1990, During the show's fourth season, Reverend Gregory married Thelma, finally naming her "Thelma Frye-Gregory", and in the series ending, both have a child together. Reverend Gregory, is a kind, devoting, and honest citizen.
