Revenge of the cradle refers to when a minority group has a birthrate that is significantly higher than that of the dominant group. The idea is that the minority group, if trends continue as they are, will eventually become the majority thanks to the growth in its numbers, and thus will be harder to oppress or discriminate against. The phenomenon is worldwide, with notable examples in Japan, Israel, and portions of the United States, where several states have experienced a dramatic shift in the political climate due to expanding minority populations.
However, the situation of minorities and immigrants have higher birth rates than the native-born majority population which is rapidly aging and having less children, this phenonemal trend is called the "demogrpahic time bomb" when in a given period of time, such as North Africans in France, ethnic Chinese in eastern Russia and Hispanics in the Southwestern U.S., the majorities will be outnumbered by a particular minority group. They will become a minority majority country if the trend actually completed its' course.[citation needed]
