[edit] Characters

This is a response to User:74.33.244.149, who has been adding a lot of interesting text of various Labyrinth characters to this page. I think it's all fascinating, but I've removed a lot of it because it has more to do with the franchise as a whole, not the manga itself. A lot of the text is also speculative interpretation and original research. Annie D 00:44, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

It's not speculation. Everything I posted was based on content provided by the likes of Brian Froud. I gave specific references to everthing I added. Maybe if you actually read it you would notice that. I was giong to add content about characters specific to the manga today.

By the way, all the characters of the Franchise WILL appear in the Manga and many have already, that's why it's necessary.

Funny how a similar excuse is given why people only want the characters of Jareth and Sarah listed for the actual film. So there's no place for all the secondary characters because of some elitests who forget them?

Would you rather I wait until part 3 is Published to let anyone know who the Hell these characters are? Because last I checked Sarah does appear in the Manga as does Irene, many of these goblins, Hoggle, Moppet, Jareth, Toby, ect..

Jareth taking a human guise is used in the Manga, the reference to other media is how that concept came about...

It was first hinted at in the Labyrinth novelization. David Bowie expanded on it in the music videos. And then came the manga.

Considering you have added this information to the main Labyrinth (film) article already, it doesn't have to be repeated here. You can summarise the content and then add a
Main article: Labyrinth (film)
to it. There's no need for repetition. Annie D 22:21, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Okay, how about this. The article has to contain information only pertaining to the manga in its current form. Wikipedia is not a crystal ball, so just because you believe or know the characters will appear or are being interpreted by the creators of the manga exactly according to previous canon, but you don't have citations to back it up, they still don't belong here. I'm still going to have to clean this up because the formatting is all over the place and there can't be a repetition of information since it's already available in the main article. -- Annie D 22:39, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Just so you know, sentences like: "The likelihood of Jareth being a faery is the result of character traits given to Jareth by conceptual artist, Brian Froud, well known for his art involving faeries and faery creatures. If this is true than Jareth has a vulnerability to iron as a weapon or restraint" are original research. Annie D 00:19, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

All right, I saw the changes you made and I agree with them. I suppose I just react badly to bad edits. You should see some of the stuff I found on the page for the Lestat musical. 90% of it's content was wrong, especially in the plot summeries. Somene even kept spelling various characters' names wrong. It was a mess.

[edit] Irene Williams

I don't know where this Irene-as-abusive idea comes from. In the manga itself, she is not shown as neglectful, just very strict and unaffectionate. She spanks a young Toby for misbehaving and scolds him to do his schoolwork. Although we have not seen a single loving gesture from her toward her son, assuming that she's abusive might be too much. Darkfrog24 (talk) 22:44, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

I would consider this version of Irene as being emotionally abusive towards Toby, but that's just me. Annie D (talk) 00:43, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Jareth in Love

As cool as it would be to have Jareth's ideas hammered out, the manga doesn't actually make clear that he's fallen in love with Sarah. He's fixated on her and he's referred to as having lost his heart, but his reactions show as much resentment as anything else -- although he certainly does seem to want her to love him. IMHO, the L-word's got to wait till they tell us more. Darkfrog24 (talk) 22:44, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
